So what is Rondy? Or Fur Rondy as Alaskan’s call it. But what is it? It has proudly represented the pioneering spirit of Alaskans. With the addition of more than 20 official cultural and sporting activities around Anchorage, the Anchorage community hosts nearly 50 Rondy Round Town events, offering wacky winter fun for all ages. This year 2019, will be the 84th year of having Fur Rondy. The biggest event of all time is the running of the Reindeer. There’s even a beer festival, 5K run and a Grand Parade. All in the name of Alaska. Fur Rondy is advertised all of the State of Alaska, and visitors for many different villages and cities fly in for a week of fun and relaxation during Fur Rondy. Another big thing about Fur Rondy is the collectable pin. These pins are high quality and detailed sought after pins. This year Fur Rondy is happening Feb 22nd to Mar 3rd. So if you are thinking or may even be in town between those dates, here are some suggestions of where to stay and eat, as well as the best views for Fur Rondy.
Fur Rondy happens starts Feb 22nd to Mar 3rd.

With all that though there is a Heritage Ambassador. The Heritage Ambassador was added back in 2016. She is an outstanding Alaska Native young woman selected from the Queen candidates and serves to help preserve the tradition and Alaska Native spirit. Once selected Heritage Ambassador will serve along with the Royal Court throughout the year.
As for hotels, you will want to stay in downtown Anchorage. And there is one hotel that I can think of that is great for a view and within walking distance of a lot of the events. And that’s the Hotel Captain Cook. It has a wonderful view of the whole city and not to mention the wonderful food selection in the dinning area.
